RA: An XML Schema Reduction Algorithm

چکیده
XML file comparison and clustering are two challenging tasks still accomplished predominantly manually. XML schema contains information about data structure, types, and labels found in an XML file. By reducing the XML schema tree to its significant nodes the task of finding structural equivalent schemas, and implicit XML files that refer to the same entities, is simplified.

XML schema structural equivalence
The Xequiv algorithm determines when two XML schemas are equivalent based on their structural organization. It calculates the percentages of schema inclusion in another schema by considering the cardinality of each leaf node and its interconnection to other leaf nodes that are part of a sequence or choice structure. Xequiv is based on the Reduction Algorithm [8] that focuses on the leaf nodes a...
متن کاملXML-Schemaevolution: Änderung eines XML-Schemas mit automatisierter Adaption assoziierter XML-Dokumente
The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is a well-established and standardized format for exchanging and storing structured and semi-structured information. If the structure of an XML document complies with the standard of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), the XML document can be seen as well-defined. The XML Schema, abbreviated XSD (XML Schema Definition), is one schema language of the W3C for...
متن کاملSolving Schema Conversion Problem between XML and Relational Models: Semantic Approach
Schema conversion problem aims to convert a source schema S in the given model M1 to an equivalent target schema T in the desired model M2. In this paper, we especially study schema conversion problem between XML and relational models. We present three semantics-based schema conversion algorithms: 1) CPI converts an XML schema to a relational schema while preserving semantic constraints of the ...
متن کاملFrom XML Schema to Object-Relational Database - An XML Schema-Driven Mapping Algorithm
Since XML becomes a crucial format for representing information, it is necessary to establish techniques for managing XML documents. A possible solution can be found in storing XML data in (object-)relational databases. For this purpose most of the existing techniques often exploit an XML schema of the stored XML data, usually expressed in DTD. But the more complex today’s applications are, the...
متن کاملAn Experiment on the Matching and Reuse of XML Schemas
XML Schema is becoming an indispensable component in developing web applications. With its widespread adoption and its web accessibility, XML Schema reuse is becoming imperative. To support XML Schema reuse, the first step is to develop mechanism to search for relevant XML Schemas over the web. This paper describes a XML Schema matching system that compares two XML Schemas. Our matching system ...
